Marquee Inc. is bringing its own version of "Star Search" to Winfield. Ed McMahon won't be there, but five competitions will bring together some of the best of local talent throughout the spring and summer.
The benefit shows will be held once a month for five months, starting Saturday March 29th. The preliminary competitions held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday nights at Messenger Recital Hall on the Southwestern College Campus.
"When someone buys a $5 ticket, they will also get a ballot so they can vote for their favorite act," said Allyson Moon, Marquee, Inc. board member.
"We're looking for talent for upcoming shows. We're open to almost any kind of act, including singers, instrumentalists, jugglers, trained dogs, stand-up comics, bird acts, just about anything. We can't provide props, but we do have a piano, mikes, and a well-lit stage available."
"With a winner chosen by judges and a favorite chosen by the audience each month, we think there will be ten very good performances to enjoy at the finale," said Moon. "The winner of that competition will be awarded a substantial cash prize."
