Our beginnings

At the end of 2004 the Winfield Cinema building, located at 1007 Main Street, Winfield, Kansas, was closed when the parent company, B&B Theater, opened Cowley 8 near Strother Field, located between the cities of Winfield and Arkanas City, Kansas. At that time B&B Theater offered to donate the former theater building to a non-profit organization that would provide community-wide use of the building. Winfield Main Street began the process of locating an owner for the building who met B&B's non-profit requirement.

Since there was no existing non-profit with a mission that included ownership of a former theater building, a new corporation was formed for such that purpose - Marquee, Inc. - a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

What's Next?

With the completion of the acquisition of the building and the formation of Marquee, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, where do we go from here to fulfill our dream?
